The cause: why we are fundraising...

We are celebrating our 20th anniversary and have introduced a social good element as part of the yearlong celebration. We have identified Distress Centres of Greater Toronto (formerly known as Spectra Helpline) as an organization that we would like to work with to raise funds towards the Telecheck Seniors Program (55+) Your contribution of $20 in honor of the PMILOC 20th Anniversary will help make a difference in the lives of seniors living in Peel Region.

About the program

The TeleCheck Seniors Program (55+) provides ongoing telephone support for isolated seniors. Our regular calls provide safety check-ins, medication reminders, or social calls. We also focus on offering clients a chance to be heard by providing emotional support, companionship and a sense of community. We work together to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, provide positive coping skills, offer referrals to community services, and keep people safe.

Spectra’s comprehensively trained volunteer responders are committed to providing phone support for:

  • Elder Abuse

  • Isolation & Loneliness

  • Anxiety/Stress

  • Settlement & Integration

  • Relocation

  • Depression/continued sadness

  • Loss & Grief
